DBA_Workshop designed and fabricated a modern interpretation of shoji—Japanese sliding doors—for our Oakland office conference room and storefront.
Made from ¼”-inch steel, reeded glass, and salvaged Oakland Hills redwood reclaimed from an 1800s-era water tank, the doors have a modern, organic feel and integrate seamlessly with the existing office door. Custom power-carved handholds serve as unique handles, and the steel storefront features adjustable shelves and was fabricated on site.
