Supertone’s strong yet welcoming aesthetic is communicated throughout with rich textures, authentic materials, and warm tones.
The original building required the removal of load-bearing partitions and the addition of new footings and structural steel to accommodate two large classrooms—as well as a locker room, restrooms, and support spaces—within a tight, irregular footprint, while at the same time managing sound isolation, ventilation, and audio-visual (AV) integration.
Double layers of QuietRock gypsum paired with additional ceiling insulation and acoustic wall panels minimize noise between classrooms and to neighbors. Heavy-duty sound doors ensure privacy and sound control.
To meet the HVAC demands of the Cycle and Strength workouts, a 10-ton Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) was added, with a steel structure incorporated into the roof to support its weight.
Fitness classes running simultaneously or back-to-back necessitated a complex AV system, which was developed with a consultant to allow instructors to seamlessly toggle audio between rooms while maintaining full control over sound and lighting.
In the Cycle room, full-length mirrors and lighting along the floors and ceilings creates an immersive atmosphere. In the Strength room, custom weight racks developed with a local steel fabricator balance elegance and function.
Custom elements and earthy touches add to the refined, restrained atmosphere.
