Second and 20th

Birmingham AL | Completed

2023

Six modern residences paired with an urban courtyard and a dynamic retail corner bring fresh energy to the heart of downtown Birmingham.

With an eye on the future, the historic Webb Building traces its roots back to 1871, the same year the City of Birmingham was founded. This modest yet storied three-level masonry building holds the corner at 2nd Avenue and 20th Street.

Shuttered since the 1980s, the historic building has been fully reimagined and renewed with a thoughtful modern upgrade  that builds on its classic frame and timeless features. Second & 20th unites the former Webb Building with two neighboring brick  structures to form a gracious mixed-use community, leveraging  the historic details in a warm and unfussy architectural update.

Above neighborhood-serving restaurant and retail spaces, the  building offers three unit layouts: A dramatic curved corner home, a quiet two-bedroom model tucked along a quiet private entry passage, and a compact studio loft that offers a flexible living space flooded with natural light.
