Paseo Senter

San Jose CA | Completed

2008

This affordable housing district is organized around a main street linking the facing arterial roadway to the Coyote Creek Park green space.

Though this connecting passageway allows access by cars, it is designed to calm traffic and prioritize the pedestrian experience. Lined at ground level with active uses, the paseo bustles with the activity of entry stoops, a community room, a library, leasing offices, social worker support spaces, a neighborhood-serving child-care center, an American Indian Educational Program center, and a grandparent caregiver center. Framing the paseo, the two residential buildings feature embedded garages wrapped with homes above streetside service spaces.
