RESHAP Alameda Point

Alameda CA | In Design

A collaboration with MidPen Housing, Alameda Point Collaborative, Building Futures for Women and Children, and Operation Dignity, RESHAP is a new plan to bring 332 units of affordable housing for diverse residents to Alameda.

Pronounced “reshape”, the RESHAP (Rebuilding the Existing Supportive Housing at Alameda Point) Alameda plan is the redevelopment of 10 acres of Alameda’s former Navy base.

DBA is partnered with MidPen Housing and three local non-profit organizations to develop a cohesive community that will provide 267 stable new homes with enhanced services for residents while also re-energizing Alameda’s Main Street Neighborhood.

Together with MidPen, DBA created and implemented a highly collaborative resident outreach process that informed the City’s future Specific Plan for the neighborhood. Engagement opportunities included monthly meetings with residents, focus groups with development partners, community-wide design input meetings, and one-on-one interviews.

The proposed site plan was crafted with the goals of modernization, community-supporting open spaces, enhanced supportive services, and increased housing capacity.

The RESHAP Alameda Plan was unanimously approved by the Alameda Planning Commission in May 2023 and the housing is currently in design.
