Designed to be both playful and practical, the playhouses have a maximum footprint of 8’x10’ and top height of 10’6”.
DBA partnered with long-time collaborator Cahill Contractors to build a farmstand-inspired mini-greenhouse that invites imaginitive play and—our favorite—getting your hands dirty.
The enlarged orange-crate label framing the window is a nod to DBA's home—the historic Clock Tower building that houses our SF office was once home to the Max Schmidt Lithograph Corporation, which designed and printed classic California fruit box labels.
The spruce structure is topped with a transparent polycarbonate greenhouse ceiling that lets in lots of light. Inside, a mini potting shed and work space encourage planting. Outside, a galvanized "aquaculture" tank captures rainwater.
The playhouses will be on display at the Stanford Shopping Center through June 9, 2017. Your chance to bid on one, however, takes place at the Dreams Happen Gala on June 3, 2017.
